Apple Dumplings

These Apple Dumplings are a delightful dessert, combining a sweet and spiced apple filling with a tender Bisquick dough, all baked in a luscious brown sugar sauce. Perfect for a cozy treat, they are best enjoyed warm, served with milk or a scoop of ice cream.

Ingredients:

Apple Filling:

  • 1 medium to large Granny Smith apple
  • 1 1/2 tsp cornstarch
  • 1 Tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 Tbsp sugar
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon

Dumpling:

  • 1 cup Bisquick
  • 1/3 cup milk

Brown Sugar Sauce:

  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 Tbsp butter

Instructions:

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

Peel, core, and chop the apple into cubes. Mix the apple cubes with 1 tablespoon of brown sugar, 1 tablespoon of sugar, cinnamon, and cornstarch. Set aside.

In a medium bowl, combine the Bisquick and milk to form the dough. It may seem dry at first, but it will come together. Roll the dough out to about a 6 to 8 inch round.

Place the apple mixture in the center of the dough round and fold the dough around the apples, sealing the edges. Place the dumpling, smooth side up, into a baking dish. If you are making multiple dumplings, use a 9×13 inch pan. For one or two dumplings, a bread loaf pan will suffice.

Brown Sugar Sauce:
In a saucepan over medium heat, combine the brown sugar, water, and butter. Heat until the sugar is dissolved and the mixture is well combined.

Pour the brown sugar sauce over the dumpling(s) in the baking dish.

Bake the dumplings at 350°F for 40 minutes or until the apples are tender.

Serve warm with milk or a scoop of ice cream for an extra indulgent treat. Enjoy!
