Brown Sugar Bacon Wrapped Smokies

These bacon-wrapped smokes with brown sugar are a great appetizer! They are easy to make and can be easily made in advance and freeze well!

Ingredients

▢1 Bacon Package
▢1 Mini Smokies Package
▢1/2 Cup of brown sugar
▢1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper or to taste
▢Toothpicks

Instructions

Preheat the oven to 425 degrees. Line a baking tray with aluminum foil.
Cut the bacon into thirds. Wrap a piece of bacon around each mini-smoker and secure it with a toothpick.
Combine cayenne pepper and brown sugar and roll each smoke into the mixture. (Note: They can be frozen at this point)
Place in prepared pans and bake for 10 minutes.
Turn over the smokes and cook for 10 more minutes or until the bacon is crisp. (Add 5 more minutes if baking from freezer).

Recipe Notes

NOTE: Do not mix the brown sugar with the smokies in the foil-lined pan because excess brown sugar can be burned. Rub the brown sugar into the smokies before putting them in the pan.
