Best friends build their own village to retire and grow old together.

Four couples decided to build their perfect “getaway” in old Texas. These eight best friends thought of a green city made of small houses, and architect Matt Garcia made their wish come true.

The cabins, which overlook the Llano River outside Austin, Texas, cost about $40,000 each and are environmentally friendly and sustainable.

The couples plan to retire on the property and have called it “Llano’s Exit Strategy”.

Garcia explained that the idea was to achieve a feeling of warmth that would compensate for the cold of the metal outside.

His retreat is designed to be sensitive to the limited water resources of a region trapped in a state drought. The high-quality finish is inexpensive, and the reflective walls and insulated windows reflect heat, so the cabins stay cool even in summer.

The interiors were made of plywood and the sloping roofs allow for the collection of up to 50,000 gallons of rainwater in large barrels or cisterns to keep the property irrigated.

Despite the cabins, there is also a 1500 square foot common kitchen with large stainless steel appliances, including a commercial stove and a clear glass refrigerator, as well as a guest room.

The black granite countertop, with steel stools and a wine rack on each side, separates the kitchen from the dining room and the common living room.

The guest room is equipped with bunk beds and a large pine porch with octagonal wooden picnic tables where you can enjoy the peace and view.
