These are the perfect sugar cookies to make for Christmas! They don’t get cold and are easy to roll, plus they taste perfect! Everybody loves this classic cookie!
1 cup (226g) unsalted butter
1 cup (200g) white granulated sugar
1 egg, at room temperature
1 teaspoon of pure McCormick vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon McCormick almond extract
2 teaspoons baking powder
3 cups (360g) all-purpose flour
Preheat the oven to 350° F.
Add butter to the bowl of your stand mixer and place the cream on medium-high heat for 1-2 minutes, or until the butter is soft and lighter in color.
With the mixer on low heat, slowly add the sugar and then the egg.
Scrape the bowl with the mixer off.
Return the mixer to low and add the extracts.
Allow all the ingredients to combine completely.
Add the baking powder and then the flour, 1/2 cup at a time, until it is completely incorporated.
Remove bowl from mixer and drop dough on floured table. Roll out on a flat disk, about 1/2 inch thick.
Cut cookies into Christmas-inspired shapes and bake at 350°F for 6-9 minutes.
Cool on cookie sheet until firm enough to transfer to cooling rack.
Frost with ice cream or frosting.
