Deviled eggs

Deviled eggs are a timeless favorite for holidays and social gatherings. This version combines classic ingredients like hard-boiled eggs, mayonnaise, mustard, and vinegar with a few tasty twists. The term “deviled” refers to the dish’s spicy or zesty flavor, dating back to the 18th century, so rest assured, there’s nothing ominous about these delightful appetizers!

Ingredients:

  • Large eggs (hard-boiled, cooled, and halved)
  • 6 slices of bacon (cooked until crisp and crumbled)
  • 2 teaspoons of fresh chives
  • 2 teaspoons of white vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons of finely shredded mild cheddar cheese
  • 1⁄4 cup of sour cream or buttermilk
  • Paprika for garnish

Directions:

  1. Remove the yolks from the egg halves and place them in a mixing bowl.
  2. Add the bacon, chives, vinegar, and cheddar cheese to the yolks.
  3. Mix in the sour cream or buttermilk gradually until you achieve a creamy consistency.
  4. Spoon the yolk mixture back into the egg white halves. It will be plentiful, so don’t be shy—pile it high.
  5. Finish with a light dusting of paprika for color and a bit of extra flavor.

These deviled eggs offer a wonderful blend of creamy, savory flavors with a hint of sharpness, making them an irresistible snack for any occasion.
