KENTUCKY HOT BROWN SLIDERS

The Kentucky Hot Brown Sliders take a traditionally open-faced sandwich and turn it into an appetizer with turkey, tomatoes, homemade cheese sauce and bacon.

Ingredients

Cheese sauce
1 tablespoon of butter
1 tablespoon of flour
1 cup of milk
1/4 teaspoon of salt
1/4 teaspoon of pepper
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
1 cup white cheddar cheese, grated
1/4 cup Parmesan cheese, grated

Butter
1/4 cup butter, melted
1/2 teaspoon garlic salt
1/2 teaspoon fresh parsley, chopped
1/2 teaspoon of salt

Sliders
1 package (12-count) of King’s Hawaiian Rolls
1 pound of turkey breast, leftovers or thick slices of turkey
2 medium tomatoes, sliced
8-10 slices of bacon, cooked and shredded

Instructions

Cheese sauce
In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Beat the flour and cook until soft and golden (1-2 minutes).
Slowly add the milk, beating constantly.
Add salt, pepper and nutmeg. Continue cooking until thickened (3-5 minutes).
Remove from the heat and add the cheeses. Beat until it melts. Set aside.

Cover with butter
In a small bowl, mix the melted butter, garlic salt, parsley and salt. Set aside.

Sliders
Preheat the oven to 350°F. Spray a 9×13-inch baking pan with non-stick spray.
Split the rolls in half, placing the bottom halves on the prepared baking sheet.
Cover rolls with turkey, tomato slices, cheese sauce and crumbled bacon.
Place the top of the rolls on top and spread with the melted butter mixture.
Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 15 minutes, or until the cheese is hot and bubbly.
Remove the foil and bake 5 more minutes, or until the tops of the rolls are golden brown.
Remove from oven, cut and serve.
