Lemon Cream Cheese Bread Recipe

Ingredients:

  • Bread Batter:
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 8 oz sour cream
  • ½ cup canola oil
  • Zest of 2 lemons
  • Juice of 1 lemon
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 ½ cups flour
  • 2 ½ teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • Cream Cheese Swirl:
  • 1 (8 oz) package cream cheese, softened
  • ⅓ cup powdered sugar

Instructions:

  1. Preheat Oven:
  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Grease a standard loaf pan to prevent sticking.
  1. Prepare Wet Ingredients:
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the sugar, eggs, sour cream, lemon zest, lemon juice, vanilla extract, and canola oil.
  • Mix until the mixture is smooth and well combined.
  1. Prepare Dry Ingredients:
  • In another bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  1. Combine Ingredients:
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients.
  • Mix until fully combined and the batter is smooth.
  • Set aside.
  1. Prepare Cream Cheese Swirl:
  • In a small bowl, mix together the softened cream cheese and powdered sugar until smooth and creamy.
  1. Layer and Swirl:
  • Pour half of the batter into the prepared loaf pan.
  • Spoon about half of the cream cheese mixture on top of the batter.
  • Use a knife to gently swirl the cream cheese into the batter.
  • Pour the remaining batter on top.
  • Spoon the remaining cream cheese mixture on top and swirl again to create a marbled effect.
  1. Bake:
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 65-70 minutes.
  • Cover the bread with foil for the last 20-30 minutes to prevent the top from over-browning.
  1. Cool:
  • Allow the bread to fully cool in the pan before slicing.
  • This will help the cream cheese to set properly and make slicing easier.
