Monte Cristo Sandwich

The next level of grilled cheese is sprinkled with powdered sugar and served with some jam for a perfect finish.

Ingredients

▢6 slices of white bread
▢4 tablespoons of mayonnaise
▢4 slices of Swiss cheese
▢4 slices of ham
▢2 teaspoons yellow mustard optional
▢4 slices of turkey
▢½ cup of milk
▢4 eggs
▢4 tablespoons of butter
▢2 tablespoons of powdered sugar optional

Instructions

Place two slices of bread on a cutting board. Spread mayonnaise on each slice of bread. Cover with a slice of cheese, and 2 slices of ham. Add the second slice of bread and spread with a little mustard if you wish. Add 2 slices of turkey and one of cheese. Add the third slice of bread.
Using a cutting board or the bottom of a pan, gently press the sandwich. Cut off the crust (to help seal the sandwich).
In a small bowl, mix the milk, eggs, and salt and pepper until combined. Dip the sandwich in the egg mixture.
Preheat the pan over low heat and add butter. Add the sandwich and cook for 4 to 6 minutes. Turn and cook 4-5 minutes more or until well cooked and melted.
Sprinkle with powdered sugar if using. Serve hot with strawberry jam.
