Pepperoni Pizza pumpkins are quick and easy pizza bites loaded with marinara sauce, mozzarella cheese and pepperoni. These homemade pizza bites are great for your lunch box, dinner or snack. And, if you make them in nice pumpkin shapes, they’ll be the perfect holiday food or appetizer for Halloween and Thanksgiving.
A can of refrigerated pizza crust
2 tablespoons of marinara sauce + more to serve
16 slices of pepperoni
8 mini mozzarella balls (or 8 mozzarella cubes)
1 egg – lightly bitten with 2 teaspoons of water
Preheat the oven to 400°F, line a baking tray with parchment paper and set it aside.
Roll out the pizza dough and with a 3 ½ or 4 inch cutter cut 8 circles of dough.
Place a small portion of marinara sauce in the center of each circle, add 2 slices of pepperoni and a cube or ball of mozzarella.
Pull up the edges, pressing them down and making sure not to leave any holes for the filling to come out. Place the pizza bombs on the prepared baking sheet.
Wrap each ball of dough in a piece of kitchen string, around the ball to divide it into eight sections. The rolls are baked with the string attached and the dough rises around the string forming small pumpkin shapes.
Brush each ball with egg and bake for 15 to 20 minutes, or until it rises to a beautiful golden brown color.
Let the rolls cool for a few minutes, then remove the string. Serve hot with marinara sauce on the side.
