SALTINE CRACKER TOFFEE

The Easy Cracker Toffee is a simple caramel recipe made mainly in the oven! A sweet and salty Christmas dessert perfect for anyone who loves toffee.

Ingredients

1 sleeve of crackers
1 cup of butter
1 cup of brown sugar
2 cups of semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 cup of chopped nuts or pecans

Instructions

Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F. Spread parchment paper over a sheet of cookies. It’s a jelly tray, a cookie sheet with sides. Sides are important!}
In a pan combine the sugar and butter. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat, stirring occasionally. A full boil is one that does not stop once it is stirred. Once it is really boiling, set the timer to 3 minutes and stop stirring.
After 3 minutes, immediately pour over the crackers. Do your best to pour some on each cookie, but don’t worry about covering each one completely.
Bake at 400 degrees F (205 degrees C) for 7 minutes. Once it has been in the oven for 2-3 minutes, it will begin to bubble. This is when the candy will cover the cookies by itself. They will also move a little bit, so you can see why it is important to have a little bit of excess parchment paper on the sides.
Remove from the oven and sprinkle chocolate chips on top. Put them back in the oven for 2 minutes. Take it out of the oven and let it rest for 1 or 2 minutes.
Spread the melted chocolate over the caramel and cover it with chopped nuts. Cool completely and cut into pieces. Enjoy!
