Southern fried cabbage is delicious and is a super easy dish to make with few carbohydrates. Just one hand full of ingredients and it comes together in less than 30 minutes.


8 slices of bacon, chopped
1 small onion, finely chopped
1 small head of green cabbage without heart and chopped
1/4 teaspoon of smoked paprika
salt and pepper to taste
1 tablespoon of brown sugar optional
1 tablespoon of chopped parsley optional


Cook the bacon in a nonstick skillet over medium heat until crisp, 4-5 minutes. Remove the bacon from the pan, but save the drippings.
Add onions to pan and cook for 3-4 minutes or until translucent. Add cabbage, brown sugar, salt and pepper.
Cook, stirring occasionally, until the cabbage wilts. You may need to add a little water to help the cabbage.
Add the chopped bacon back to the pan and mix it with the cabbage.
Sprinkle with parsley and serve.
