Vanilla Cream and Chocolate Ganache Delight

Ingredients:

For the Vanilla Cream Layer:

  • 500 ml heavy cream (whipping cream)
  • 250 g cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 4 sheets gelatin or 1 packet gelatin powder

For the Chocolate Ganache Topping:

  • 200 g dark chocolate, chopped
  • 200 ml heavy cream
  • 50 g butter

Instructions:

Preparing the Vanilla Cream Layer:

  • Hydrate the Gelatin:
  • If using sheets, place the gelatin sheets in cold water to soften.
  • If using powder, dissolve the gelatin in a small amount of cold water.
  • Whip the Cream:
  • In a large bowl, whip the heavy cream until it forms stiff peaks. Set aside.
  • Prepare the Cream Cheese Mixture:
  • In another bowl, beat the cream cheese until smooth. Add the powdered sugar and vanilla extract, and continue to beat until well combined.
  • Incorporate the Gelatin:
  • If using sheets, squeeze out excess water and dissolve the gelatin in a small saucepan over low heat. If using powder, heat the gelatin mixture until fully dissolved. Let cool slightly, then fold into the cream cheese mixture.
  • Combine Mixtures:
  • Gently fold the whipped cream into the cream cheese mixture until well combined and smooth.
  • Chill:
  • Pour the mixture into a suitable dish and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or until set.

Preparing the Chocolate Ganache Topping:

  • Heat the Cream:
  • In a small saucepan, heat the heavy cream over medium heat until it begins to simmer.
  • Melt the Chocolate:
  • Remove the cream from heat and add the chopped dark chocolate. Stir until the chocolate is completely melted and the mixture is smooth.
  • Add Butter:
  • Add the butter and stir until fully incorporated and glossy.
  • Cool Slightly:
  • Allow the ganache to cool slightly before pouring it over the set vanilla cream layer.

Assembly:

  • Pour Ganache:
  • Once the vanilla layer is set, pour the slightly cooled chocolate ganache over the top, ensuring an even layer.
  • Chill Again:
  • Return the dessert to the refrigerator for at least another 2 hours, or until the ganache is firm.
