BEEF POT PIE

We have improved the traditional homemade Pot Pie and added Beef Bits, giving this classic dish a… dare I say elegant… twist! The Steak Bites come together very quickly and add incredible texture and flavor to this Beef Pie recipe!

Ingredients

1/4 cup unsalted butter
2 cake crusts, 1 for the top and 1 for the bottom.
2 1/2 cups of marinated steak bites, (previously cooked and slightly cooled)
1 1/2 cups of boiled potatoes cut into cubes
1 cup cooked sliced carrots
1 cup of frozen peas
1 bucket of beef broth, crushed
1 cup of whole milk
2 cups of meat broth
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1 beaten egg (for egg washing)

Instructions

Preheat the oven to 375°F.
In a large skillet over medium-high heat, melt butter.
Add flour, whisk, and cook for 1 minute.
Add the meat stock, milk and broth.
Simmer until thickened, stirring often (about 5 minutes).
Add the peas, carrot, boiled potatoes and marinated meat bites, mix well.
In a prepared 9-inch pie plate, add the pie crust from the bottom.
Pour the steak mixture over the crust.
Cover with second pie crust.
Using a fork, seal the edges of the two pie crusts.
Brush top lightly with egg.
Make 4-5 small cuts in the top crust to air out.
Bake for 40-50 minutes (until top crust is golden brown). (see notes to avoid burning the edges)
