These sticky oatmeal candies are filled with caramel, chocolate chips and oatmeal dough. Better yet, they can be made in 20 minutes or less!
An 11-ounce package of candy or candy pieces
1/2 cup heavy cream or half and half
1 cup of flour
1 cup of old-fashioned oatmeal
3/4 cup of brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon of salt
12 tablespoons of melted butter
6 ounces of semi-sweet chocolate chips
1/2 cup of chopped nuts
Preheat the oven to 350. Grease a 9 x 9 baking tray or line it with parchment or aluminum foil.
Add candy or caramel pieces and heavy cream to a small saucepan. Heat the candy over low heat, stirring frequently, until the candies are completely melted and smooth. Remove from heat and set aside.
In a medium bowl, mix flour, oats, brown sugar, baking soda and salt. Pour melted butter into the bowl and mix to combine.
Press half of the oat mixture into the bottom of the prepared baking dish. Bake for 10 minutes (do not turn off the oven).
Sprinkle the chocolate chips and nuts over the baked crust, then pour the melted caramel over it, spreading it gently to cover it. Sprinkle the rest of the oatmeal mixture over the caramel (it’s okay if it doesn’t cover the caramel completely). Bake for 15 to 20 minutes, until light brown.
Remove the candy from the oven and cool it completely before cutting and serving.
