Chocolate Pecan Piecaken

This chocolate and nut cake is really amazing and such a spectacular dessert. A rich chocolate cake filled with a sticky nut cake and covered with chocolate ganache – absolutely amazing!

Ingredients

A 15.25 ounce box of chocolate cake mix, plus ingredients in the back of the box to make a cake
A prepared 8 or 9 inch whole nut cake
1/2 cup of heavy cream
1 cup of semi-sweet chocolate chips
Walnut halves to decorate the cake

Instructions

Preheat oven to 350° F. Liberally grease a 9 or 10 inch skillet with cooking spray. To make removal easier, I also like to add a round of parchment paper to the bottom of the cake pan.
Prepare the cake batter according to the instructions on the box. Pour half of the dough into the prepared pan. Remove any packages from the cake and place them upside down in the cake batter in the pan. Pour the rest of the cake batter over the cake.
Bake for 60-70 minutes or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean or with moist but not wet crumbs. I recommend checking at the 30-minute mark to see if it is browning too quickly; if so, cover it with aluminum foil. Cool the cake in the pan completely.
To make the ganache: heat the heavy cream until it is hot to the touch in a small microwave container, about 40 seconds in the microwave. Pour the chocolate pieces into the hot cream and let it rest for 5 minutes. Stir until smooth and shiny, then pour the ganache over the cake. Garnish with walnut halves.
