Christmas Shortbread Cookies

Christmas Cookies – lovely, delicious, tasty and with only three ingredients! You need to add these lovely butter Christmas cookies to your Christmas!

INGREDIENTS

1 cup salted butter, cooled and cut into pieces
½ cup granulated sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla or almond extract
2 ¼ all-purpose flour cups
Optional: sprinkling of red and green

INSTRUCTIONS

In a medium bowl of an electric mixer, mix the butter, granulated sugar and vanilla extract until well combined.
Add the all-purpose flour and mix until combined
Knead the dough by hand for 5 minutes
The dough should end up soft and flexible, similar to plasticine, not sticky.
Form a ball, wrap it well and cool it for about 30 minutes.
While the dough is at rest, preheat the oven to 350F. Line the baking sheets with parchment paper and set aside
Roll dough to approximately ½ inches thick, use a cookie cutter for shapes
Place each cookie 2 inches away on a baking sheet, sprinkle the sprinkles on top if desired and press gently into the dough.
Bake for 8 to 10 minutes, or until edges are golden brown.
Immediately transfer to a wire rack for cooling.
