The banana cream cheese bread recipe has two of my favorite things: cheesecake and banana bread, all combined in a delicious bread that your whole family will rhapsodize about.
INGREDIENTS
BREAD MIXTURE
1/2 c. melted butter and more butter for the pan
1 1/2 c. of flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 c. of sugar
1/4 c. sour cream
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
2 large eggs
3 crushed ripe bananas
CREAM CHEESE MIXTURE
6 oz. of softened cream cheese
1 large egg
1/3 c. of sugar
2 T. of flour
INSTRUCTIONS
Preheat the oven to 350°. Spray a 9″-x-5″ bread pan and set aside.
In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt.
In another large bowl, combine 1 cup sugar, butter, sour cream, vanilla, 2 eggs and mix until smooth. Pour wet ingredients over dry ingredients and stir until combined, then add mashed bananas.
MAKE A CREAM CHEESE FILLING:
In a small bowl, stir together the egg, cream cheese, flour and sugar.
Transfer half of the dough to the prepared pan. Place the cream cheese filling on top and smooth it out in an even layer with a spatula. Cover with the rest of the dough and bake until golden brown and a toothpick comes out clean, about 1 hour. Let cool for 5 to 10 minutes before serving.
We are not much into bananas, so I was wondering if I could use applesauce in place of bananas?
