This easy, delicious cake is always a hit! The cake is easy because it is made with a cake mix, and delicious because of the rich layer of caramel, nuts and the fabulous cocoa icing. You could use a purchased icing on the cake if you want to cut down on time. It’s a sweet and rich cake, almost like a candy, so plan on small pieces.
Chocolate, caramel and nuts are made to be together, and their flavors harmonize perfectly in this stunning chocolate layer cake. The mixture of the devil’s food cake with the pudding and chocolate snacks results in layers of brownies filled and glazed with a caramel icing ready to spread. The finishing touches are turtle candy and a dash of dulce de leche ice cream.
1 cup of chocolate chips
2 cups of nuts
3/4 cup melted butter
1/2 cup evaporated milk
1 (14 ounce) bag of candy
1 1/3 cups of water
1/3 cup of oil
1 (18 oz.) box of German chocolate cake mix
Prepare the cake mix as directed. Pour half of the dough into a 13×9 inch pan. Bake at 350 for 15 minutes. Remove and let cool. In a double boiler, add candy, milk and butter and stir constantly until melted. Pour the melted caramel over the cooling cake. Sprinkle 1 cup of nuts and chocolate chips on top. Pour the rest of the dough on top and bake for 20 minutes more.
