This recipe for caramel and apple pie is very easy to make and incredibly delicious. It is a fun game in a classic apple pie and hits the spot when it comes to dessert.
2 x 20 oz. cans of apple pie filling
¼ tsp allspice
¼ teaspoon cinnamon
½ 10.8 oz bag of original Werther’s chewable candy (cut in half (or similar sized candy))
1 box of super wet yellow butter cake mix
¾ cup salted butter (1 ½ sticks, cut into 15 squares)
Vanilla ice cream to serve ((optional))
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Spray a 9×13 baking pan with cooking spray.
Pour both cans of apple pie filling into the baking dish. Sprinkle allspice and cinnamon over the apples. Stir to mix. Smooth with a spatula.
Cut ½ from the bag of candy in half Sprinkle over top of apples.
Cover with DRY cake mix. Smooth with a spatula.
Evenly add chunks of cold butter to the top of the cake
Place it in the oven and let it cook uncovered for 45 minutes. Turn the mold in the middle of cooking.
The cake is ready when the sides of the cake are bubbling and it is golden on top.
