Philly Cheesesteak Sliders Recipe

Philadelphia is one of my favorite cities to visit. Not only are the people friendly, the city is rich in history and the food is INCREDIBLE. And if you’ve ever visited Philadelphia, you’ve probably tried, or at least heard of, Philadelphia’s famous cheesesteaks.

Ingredients

1 tablespoon of olive oil
1 large onion, thinly sliced
1 large green pepper, thinly sliced
1⁄2 pound of freshly shaved steak
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1⁄2 teaspoon of ground garlic powder
salt and pepper to taste
1 – 12 packs of panettone buns
6 slices of provolone cheese
1 tablespoon of melted butter
1 teaspoon dried thyme (not ground)
1⁄2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

Instructions

Preheat the oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit.
In a large saucepan, heat the oil and add the onions and green peppers. Cook over medium-high heat, stirring occasionally until peppers and onions have softened.
Then, add the shaved steak, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, and salt and pepper. Cook the steak, separating it with two forks to prevent it from piling up. Cook until the steak is no longer red. Set the pan aside.
Cut the sweet rolls in half horizontally, keeping the packet of 12 rolls intact. Place them on a baking sheet. Spread the steak mixture over the bottom half of the buns, evenly. Cover with slices of cheese and the top half of the rolls.
In a small bowl, mix the melted butter, dried thyme and Worcestershire sauce. Cover the tops of the buns with the butter mixture.
Place the sliders in the oven and bake for 17-20 minutes or until the tops of the buns are golden and the cheese has melted. Serve and enjoy
