SLOW COOKER SALTED CARAMEL APPLE BUTTER

The name of this recipe, Apple Butter and Salty Caramel, tells you everything you need to know about it. This will be your new favorite.
As far as I’m concerned, you can’t have too many recipes that have apples as the main ingredient. No kidding. If you gave me 10 bushels of apples, I’d find a way to use every one of them. (Except the ones with wormholes!)

Ingredients:

Ingredients of apple butter:
3 pounds of Gala apples peeled, cored and cut into 1-inch pieces
1 C of 100% unsweetened apple juice
2 teaspoons cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
1/2 teaspoon of cloves
1/2 teaspoon of all spices

Caramel ingredients:
1 tablespoon of unsalted butter
1 spoonful of packed brown sugar
1 TBSP maple syrup
1/4 teaspoon sea salt
1 tablespoon of heavy cream
Slow cooker
Food Processor
heavy frying pan
beater

INSTRUCTIONS

Directions for apple butter:
Prepare the slow stove with a layer of cooking spray.
Add apples, apple juice and all spices to the crock pot.
Put the lid on.
Turn on the stovetop for one hour.
Turn off the stove.
Add one-third of the cooked apple mixture to the food processor or use an immersion blender. Continue blending until apples are soft.
Repeat the process until all the cooked apples are mixed.
Pour the mixture back into the slow cooker.
Turn on the slow-cooker at low heat and continue cooking for 6-8 hours. (The apple mixture will be about half of what it was.) Set aside.

Instructions for caramel sauce:
Add maple syrup, butter and brown sugar to pan and cook over medium-high heat.
Begin whipping the butter, syrup and brown sugar until the mixture has thickened and is bubbling.
Continue beating while adding salt and heavy cream. (1-2 minutes) Remove from heat.
Slowly add caramel sauce to apple mixture.
Set aside to cool.
Place one spoon in a 4-ounce jar with a lid.
