Apple pie sauce is a super fun twist on good old school apple pie. This recipe is PERFECT for parties, meals or even a fun, quick dessert.
3 apples peeled and cut into 1/4 inch cubes
1/2 tablespoon lemon juice
1/3 cup of brown sugar
2 tablespoons of sugar
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1 pinch of salt
1 cup of water
3 tablespoons of cornstarch
Mix the peeled and diced apples with the lemon juice. Put them aside.
Combine the brown sugar, sugar, cinnamon, salt and water in a pot or in the lining of your Instant Pot.
Put the apples in the liquid.
For Instant Pot: Cook on HIGH for 0 minutes, quickly release pressure. Go to step 6.
For the Stovetop: Simmer the mixture for about 10 minutes or until the fork is soft.
Remove approximately 1/2 cup of liquid from the pot and whisk the cornstarch.
Pour the cornstarch mixture into the pot with the apples and stir until the sauce has thickened.
Use immediately, refrigerate for 5 days or freeze until needed.
