The Apple and Caramel Pizza is a great autumn dessert recipe. You’ll love this sugar cookie crust with a delicious cream cheese icing, all topped with a layer of cinnamon and caramelized apple.
16 ounces of refrigerated sugar cookie dough
2 apples peeled and diced
1 tablespoon of lemon juice
3 tablespoons of light brown sugar packaged
1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon of cornstarch
1 teaspoon of water
2 tablespoons of caramel sauce and more for the drizzle.
8 ounces of cream cheese
⅓ cup granulated sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F and grease a 12-inch pizza pan with non-stick spray.
Press the cookie dough evenly into the pan, sealing any seams with your fingers.
Bake the cookie dough for 15 to 18 minutes, or until the edges of the cookie are golden brown.
Remove from oven and place pizza tray on wire rack and let cool for 1 hour.
Meanwhile, add the chopped apples, lemon juice, brown sugar and cinnamon to a small saucepan and cook over medium heat, stirring frequently, until the apples are soft and the juice begins to boil.
Beat the cornstarch and add it to the apple mixture, stirring quickly.
Add caramel sauce and cook over medium heat for about 10 minutes until sauce thickens and apples are soft. Remove from heat and let cool.
Just before assembling them, beat the cream cheese, sugar and vanilla until they are soft.
Spread the cream cheese mixture over the cooled sugar cookie crust.
Cover the cream cheese layer with cooked apples. Sprinkle with caramel sauce, slice and serve.
