French Silk Pie Brownies

These French silk cake brownies are the ultimate dessert for chocolate makers! Three layers of creamy French Silk Cake Fudgy Brownie filling, covered with whipped topping and chocolate shavings. Plus, a secret ingredient and a tip to elevate brownie boxes and cake mixes!


1 box of brownies – Only the mix NOT the ingredients
1 egg
5 1/3 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
1/4 cup of milk
1 teaspoon of instant coffee powder

French silk cake filling:
4 ounces of semi-sweet chocolate bar, chopped
4 tablespoons unsalted butter, cubed
8 ounces cream cheese, at room temperature
2 cups of powdered sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
8 ounces of Cool Whip, defrosted

8 ounces of Cool Whip, defrosted
Chocolate shavings, optional
Chocolate powder, optional


Preheat the oven to 350*F
Lightly grease the 11×9 baking tray
Pour brownie mix into a medium bowl
Add the egg, milk, melted butter and coffee powder and stir until combined.
Pour brownie mixture into prepared baking dish and bake for approximately 25-27 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean.
Allow to cool to room temperature
Meanwhile, in a small microwave bowl, add the chopped chocolate bar and the butter cut into cubes.
Microwave at 30 second intervals, stirring between – This should take 60-90 seconds. Set aside.
In a stand mixer, add the cream cheese and blend until smooth
Slowly add the powdered sugar and mix until combined
Add the vanilla extract and combine
Drizzle with melted chocolate and mix for 2-3 minutes until completely incorporated
Then add 8 ounces of Cool Whip to the chocolate mixture and fold gently until the chocolate stripes disappear.
If necessary, store in the refrigerator until the brownies cool down.
Once the brownies are cool, spread the French silk cake filling over the brownies
Then finish off with the remaining 8 ounces of Cool Whip
If desired, add chocolate shavings and/or chocolate powder
Store in the refrigerator before serving


Espresso powder is added to the brownies to help improve their taste. It will not make the brownies taste like coffee. However, if you prefer to remove the
