GRANNY’S OLD FASHIONED BUTTER CAKE WITH BUTTER CREAM FROSTING

INGREDIENTS

3 cups of plain flour
1 teaspoon of baking powder
1 teaspoon of salt
1/2 teaspoon Bi-Carbonate Soda
1 cup of butter
2 cup of sugar
4 Eggs
1 cup of buttermilk or cream
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
Butter cream frosting
1 cup Soft butter
1/2 cup of milk or cream
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
5 cups of powdered sugar

INSTRUCTIONS

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease and flour the 9 x 13 oven or pan.
Sift together the flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt, and set aside. Butter cream, sugar, egg mixture and vanilla. Mix the milk with butter alternating with the flour mixture to obtain a creamy mixture. Pour into the prepared pan and bake for about an hour. Remove from oven… let cool.
For the butter cream icing:
Butter and vanilla cream until it is soft. Add the sugar, alternating with the milk little by little; mix well until obtaining the desired consistency.
NOTES OF THE RECIPE
Variation: Use ½ cup of butter and ½ cup of lard instead of 1 cup of butter.
