Since she was a puppy, Gaia has always been incredibly sweet and gentle. Occasionally, she can be a little possessive, but only when it comes to sticks.
Gaia has always been obsessed with sticks. Her goal in life is to find a perfect stick every time she goes out, and her father is happy to help her with that goal.
“She is very particular about what size clubs she likes… I can usually find one that I know she’ll like and then proudly wear it throughout our walk,” Taylor Kononchuk, Gaia’s father, told The Dodo. “She’ll yell at me (barking) if I don’t throw the stick at her, but when I try to grab it, she jumps around me in circles playing in the distance.
When it comes to smaller sticks, Gaia is particular about the size, but in terms of big sticks, her motto is definitely “the bigger the better”.
“She’s always been a stick and ball hound,” said Kononchuk. “Basically, any piece of wood he touches is determined to catch him, no matter how big it is.”
Gaia and her father recently went for a walk when she suddenly stopped on her way. They had come across the biggest stick she had ever seen, and she decided to pick it up and bring it home.
Of course, the stick was actually a fallen telephone pole.
Kononchuk couldn’t help but laugh as he watched Gaia try and fail to pick up the post. All he wanted was to carry it with pride like all the other sticks he had come across, but unfortunately, this one was too big, and it wasn’t really a stick, but Gaia’s father didn’t have the heart to tell him.
Finally, Gaia gave up and they continued on their way. She kept trying to find more manageable and realistic sticks to carry around, but her father still greatly admired her determination when it came to the stick.
All Gaia wants in life is to carry as many perfect sticks as possible, and her father will make sure she crushes that goal every step of the way.
