Pioneer Womans Apple Dumplings

Ingredients :

1 large apple {I used a Fuji – any apple will do, the cake is better}
1 can of Pillsbury Crescent dough
1/2 cup of butter
2/3 cups of sugar
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
3/4 cup or 6 oz. 7-Up or equivalent {half the can}

Instructions :

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Grease an 8×8 baking dish.
Cut each apple into 8-10 wedges.
Cut the skin off the apple too and set it aside.
Separate the dough from the crescent rolls into triangles.
Roll each apple piece into the crescent dough starting from the wide end.
Pinch to seal and cover the apple and place it on the baking sheet. {This is easier if you dry the apple wedge first, and then wrap the dough around it.}
Melt the butter in a small pan and add the sugar and cinnamon. Heat, stirring to combine.
The mixture will combine slowly and thicken. When it thickens, remove it from the heat and add vanilla.
Pour the cinnamon mixture over the apple dumplings. Pour the soda over the meatballs. Bake for 40 to 45 minutes in a preheated oven, or until golden brown.
