Roasted garlic sauce with chicken, red onions and herbs A healthier alternative to pizza
PREPARATION TIME 15 minutes
COOKING TIME 20 minutes
TOTAL TIME 35 minutes
1 pound of pizza dough
1 Tbls of butter
8 cloves of roasted garlic, , chopped
2 tablespoons of all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1/2 cup of skimmed milk
1/4 cup half and half
1/4 cup parmesan cheese
1 1/2 cups boneless, skinless, cooked, shredded chicken breast
1/4 cup red onion, diced.
3/4 cup mozzarella cheese
One teaspoon of fresh thyme, chopped.
1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped.
HOW TO DO IT:
Preheat the oven to 450 degrees. Prepare a baking tray with a siplat coating, or grease and sprinkle with cornmeal.
Melt the butter in a small saucepan. Sauté the roasted garlic for 1 minute.
Add the flour and mix until well blended. Cook for 1 minute.
Slowly beat the milk and half and half. Mix with the pepper.
Cook for about 3 minutes, or until it begins to thicken. Remove from heat and add Parmesan cheese.
Roll out dough in a circle about 12 inches in a prepared baking dish. Spread the white sauce over the dough. Cover with chicken, red onions and cheese.
Bake for 17 minutes, or until crust is golden and cheese is melted.
Remove from oven, sprinkle with herbs. Cut and serve immediately.
