There aren’t many certainties in life, but this is one of them: You’ll love the bites of saltines!
4 cups of oyster cookies
3/4 cup of butter
3/4 cup of brown sugar
2 teaspoons of pasta or vanilla extract
1 teaspoon kosher salt
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper (or aluminum foil) and spray lightly with nonstick cooking spray.
Spread your cookies in an even layer on the baking sheet.
In a large skillet over medium heat, melt the butter. Add the brown sugar and vanilla. Stir until the brown sugar dissolves.
Turn up the heat until the mixture begins to boil. Stir continuously for about 3-4 minutes while the mixture becomes bubbly and lighter in color. There will be a delicious smell!
Turn off the heat and quickly pour over the top of the cookies. Mix gently with a rubber spatula until all the cookies are completely covered.
Sprinkle kosher salt on top of the cookies.
Bake for 8-10 minutes. Ovens vary and sugar burns easily, so keep an eye on them to prevent them from burning.
Allow cookies to cool. Then break them into pieces. Serve them immediately or store them in an airtight container.
