CARAMEL APPLE HAND PIES

Caramel apple pies are the ultimate autumn dessert. Serve them as a fun afternoon snack or use them to finish off a family dinner. Either way, these warm, sticky, apple-filled cakes, covered in rich caramel, will hit the spot every time!

Ingredients

apple pie filling (canned)
1 egg
¼ cup of brown sugar
1 sheet of pre-made pie crust
¼ cup of caramel sauce

Instructions

Unfold the cake crust and use a large circular cookie cutter to make 7 circles. (Put one of the circles aside)
Brush the caramel sauce on 3 of the circles.
Place the apple pie mixture over the caramel sauce. Cover the apples with another circular pie crust
Use a fork to fold the edges of the cakes (you may want to make two small slits in the top to allow the heat to vent).
Mix the egg in a small bowl with the brown sugar. Brush the brown sugar and egg mixture onto the hand cakes.
Cut the small hearts into the remaining dough circle and place them on the hand cakes. (optional)

Air Fryer Instructions
Preheat the air fryer to 390 degrees. Spray the bottom of the basket with non-stick cooking spray.
Carefully place cakes in the air fryer basket and cook for 5-6 minutes.
*Start looking at the cakes after 5 minutes, as each fryer can cook differently. Bake until golden brown. Serve hot.

Oven Instructions
Preheat the oven to 400 degrees.
Spray a baking pan with nonstick cooking spray.
Carefully place the hand cakes on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
Let stand for at least 15 minutes. Serve hot

Recipe Notes

I suggest making a test with a one-handed cake and then adjusting the time/temporal. As with the ovens, the air fryers are all similar, but the cooking times may vary.
Cut two small vents in each hand cake to aid in steam ventilation. This will prevent the hand cake from getting soaked.
