1 pound of medium sized shrimp, deveined and tailed
1 pound of spaghetti noodles (more or less, depending on family size)
6 -8 cloves of garlic, according to personal taste, minced
1/4 cup of butter
olive oil (3 drizzles)
freshly ground pepper
red pepper flakes
herbs (according to taste)
1 Boil the pasta in water until tender, save one cup of pasta water for later use. I always put some oil, salt and fresh herbs with my pasta when I boil it. Drain and set aside when ready.
2 While the pasta is boiling, wash the shrimp.
3 Melt the butter over medium heat. Add the shrimp.
4 Let it cook until it is a little pink and starts to curl. Then add the garlic.
5 Cook for 5-7 minutes and add oil. Continue to stir until the shrimp are pink and curly.
6 Add the pasta to the pan. Add the seasonings. Add enough water from the stored pasta to keep it from drying out but not swimming in liquid. Depending on the amount of pasta, this requires half or all of the cup. Start by adding 1/4 of it and then work your way up from there.
7 Continue to mix all the ingredients in the pan until everything is incorporated and heated up – enjoy!
