How To Give Pumpkins A Vinegar Bath So That They Last Longer

I believe that autumn will never cease to be my favorite season. Between the changing leaves, the fresh air and the bustling Halloween decorations, there’s a lot to look forward to, except for the soggy, rotting pumpkins that begin to ooze and stink. Luckily, there is a super simple trick to preserving your pumpkins that I will definitely try this fall.

All you need for this hack is some distilled vinegar, water, and a bathtub or container big enough to hold your pumpkins. Fill the tub with one part vinegar and 10 parts water and soak the pumpkins for about 30 minutes. When the time is up, remove them from the solution and let them air dry.

What the what? It’s Sunday already? Seriously? Time goes way to quickly. I had such a busy Saturday. We went to the nursery, then to Lowe’s and then started working in the yard. Next thing I knew it was 7pm. 🎃 I’m sharing with you my sweet babies taking a bath. I did the chlorine bleach bath in hoping it prolongs the life of the pumpkins. 🎃 My husband said on no, we will have pumpkins until Christmas. I don’t see anything wrong with that? Slap a red bow on it, add some garland and it’s all dolled up for the holidays. 🎃 Here is the recipe I used for the pumpkin bath. Ingredients: * Water * 1.5 tbsp. Chlorine bleach (I used lemon scented it😂) * Pinch of Dawn dish soap Fill a sink with cold water, add bleach and Dawn soap. Let the pumpkins soak for 15-20 minutes. Take pumpkins out of water and dry them off really good. 🎃 Fun fact: The word pumpkin showed up for the first time in the fairy tale Cinderella. 🎃 Have a beautiful day! . . #tihipumpkinpalooza #pumpkinseason #pumpkindecorating #pumpkindecorations #pumpkinbath #kitchensink #farmhousesink #fallkitchendecor #falldecoratingideas #falldecorations #thisishomeinspiration #thatsgoodhousekeeping #goodhousekeeping #bhghowiholiday #farmhousekitchen #farmhousefalldecor #farmhousefall #fairytalepumpkin #thatsmyhomestyle #fallhomedecor #fallfoliageandpumpkins #cottagesandbungalows #saturdaysquarestopper #stylingmyseasons #traderjoesfinds #seasonaldecor #seasonalspaceswelove #pumpkineverything #homeandgardenig

The reason this hack works so well is that the vinegar kills any mold (even the ones you can’t see) in the pumpkin, causing the pumpkins to rot and become soaked. Plus, since vinegar is a natural product, you won’t have to worry about chemicals that are harmful to your pets or your family.
